We decided to sit down with TASCO Tribe member Phil Kmetz to answer some burning questions:
I've been riding in various forms since I was born. I started riding BMX when I was 5, and mountain biking when I was 15.
I dabbled with YouTube in 2014, but it wasn't until 2015 that I started Skills with Phil. My goal with Skills with Phil has been to help riders have more fun on their bike and just showcase how much fun bikes are.
Favorite place to ride?
I spend quite a lot of time at Highland Mountain Bike Park in New Hampshire, but also love the trails down in Pisgah North Carolina.
These days it's becoming harder to address all the comments I get on YouTube, but I try to read every one of them.
How long have you been growing out the mustache? 😀
It started as a joke for our Collegiate mountain bike team photo in the fall of 2014, and I haven't shaved it off since.
"Working on" is a stretch since I haven't put much time into to learning them, but stoppies rank pretty high on that list.
The next trip will be back home. I graduate from college May 1st, and will officially be entering the "wheel world" as I like to call it.
I tend to be pretty open minded with music, there's a time and place for everything. I grew up listening to old school hip, ska, and punk, but lately though, thanks to living in North Carolina, i have an appreciate for Appalachian Bluegrass.
Who is your hero?
As cliche as it sounds, I wouldn't be anywhere without my mom, dad, and sister. I lost my dad November of 2016 which still hits hard. When I was little, my dad would take me along on his morning group rides by putting me in a kids seat on the back of his road bike. This helped contribute to why I loved being around bikes so much. Later when I started BMX he spent countless hours working on my bikes, which could have been a full time job in itself with how much I broke stuff. My mom and sister would also take me to the local dirt jumps before afternoon kindergarten classes. If it weren't for them I would not be where I am today, and I'm very thankful for that.
Hometown: Keene, New Hampshire
Single? Nope, I have an amazing wife, Hailey, who has become the best partner in crime I could ask for.
